What is MetaRemote? Secure remote desktop on your own relay
MetaRemote is a remote-desktop product that lets you see and control another computer over the internet — like AnyDesk or TeamViewer, but running on your own relay instead of someone else's cloud. You install a small host app on the machine you want to reach, it shows a 9-digit connect code, and from another machine you enter that code and a password to get the screen, mouse and keyboard.
How it's different
- No accounts. There's no directory of users to manage. Access is by connect code plus an unattended password you set on the host.
- Peer-to-peer and encrypted. The relay only helps the two machines find each other (signaling). The actual screen and input travel directly between them over DTLS-SRTP — the relay never sees your pixels.
- Self-hosted. The relay runs on infrastructure you control, so there's no third party in the middle of your remote sessions.
- Tuned for real links. Video uses hardware HEVC and only sends what actually changes on screen, so an idle desktop costs almost no bandwidth.
What you can do with it
Support a family member's Mac, administer a headless Mac mini, reach your work machine from home, or give your team unattended access to a fleet of machines. Because it's code-plus-password, ad-hoc "help me with this right now" sessions are as easy as attended access.
Getting started
MetaRemote is invite-only during early access, with pricing from $15 per user. If you already have an invite, sign in to download the host and viewer apps. Otherwise, request early access and we'll be in touch.
